The Switch to Fall Fashion

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 09/15/14

Now that we’re into mid-September, I feel like it’s the best time of the year to shop for clothing, yet I’ve been struggling to put outfits together! I know there’s a lot to choose from in my closet, but I’ve just had nothing to wear.

I know, I know, it’s a #firstworldproblem at its finest…

Seriously though, it happens to all of us, and I find it’s a common feeling during transitional seasons when the weather doesn’t match what’s in stores.

In order to overcome this slump, I’ve been looking on Pinterest each morning for some inspiration, but that was just the temporary solution.

This weekend, I did my Semi-Annual Closet overhaul. I took out anything super summery that I won’t wear until next year (here’s looking at you, neon pink) and replaced those items with my fall/winter clothes. I enjoy this overhaul way too much, because I love the rediscovery of clothes and perfectly organized shelves. It’s something we should all do at the beginning of the season, because it’s easy to forget about certain items and re-buy them without realizing. Yes, I did that the other day (and returned).

One of the first fall-like items I put on this year was a burgundy cardigan, since my love for burgundy is just as strong as ever. I wore a similar outfit last winter, so this is my fall version of the look. And yes, if you read this post, you will notice it’s the same cardigan, but in a different colour. I love my basics!

I haven’t switched over yet because the temperatures keep fluctuating! That and I’m still not ready for fall. Not until the calendar says it’s fall.

I know, I’m never really ready for fall either, but it’s cooled down a lot up here, so there’s no more avoiding it at this point (unfortunately)

The colors are very fall. I’ve been thinking I may add some lowlights to my hair for fall…the bright blond is meshing with all the moody autumn elements.

So beautiful! For someone who is struggling to put together outfits, you definitely nailed this one! I love your necklace and burgundy looks so lovely on you!
But yeah I know exactly what you mean on not having anything to wear while staring at an exploding closet. It’s the time when I feel like I want to just donate my entire closet and start over (if just that wasn’t so wasteful…and expensive…)

Great look, as always. The colours are really complimentary too. I don’t really own enough clothes to remove my warmer weather ones for colder but I have switched them so that the autumn/winter ones are closer to the front.

I am actually doing the same thing in my closet. Donating, reselling and keeping some that I still want to wear next year. Yeah we need to do this at least twice a year to get into account what we have in our closet. It is overwhelming when we don’t. I adore the outfit, perfect for fall weather and the colors…

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)
