Happy Friday! I’m so excited that another fabulous summer weekend is upon us. I’m also excited to finally share the photos from a fun collaboration I was a part of. You probably caught some of the “sneak peaks” on my Instagram, but a couple of weeks ago, I went to a summer party with some of my blogger friends. The idea to throw a party came from a conversation that I had with some of the fabulous ladies (Gabriella, Joelle and Eleni) that I’ve become friends with, through blogging. You may recall, these were the ladies who were also a part of the shoot I did with Lemonberry Boutique, back in the spring. This time around, we thought it would be fun to throw a girly, summer party. Planning a party doesn’t always have to be stressful, not when you have friends like mine. If it wasn’t for their help, I don’t know how this summer party would have turned out. It was quite a journey though. Throwing out ideas such as hiring singing waiters, acrobats and magicians were just a few things that were thought would be great. Maybe next time! You might even want to check out somewhere like https://www.junglejumps.com/ for an inflatable slide or two.
I’d love to say that I’m a fan of big, wild parties, but that’s just not me at all. I have so much more fun at low-key gatherings. If your girlfriends are anything like me and my friends, I hope this post inspires you to throw a small summer party. I know it may seem like a pain to throw a party for just a few friends, but it’s really quite simple! Obviously, the details are up to you, but if you’re looking for inspiration, here are 9 (blogger-approved) summer party essentials:
1. HEALTHY GOURMET FINGER FOODS:
Let’s be real. A party just isn’t a party without food. For whatever reason, I always judge a party based upon how good (or bad) the food is. Does anyone else do that? The food doesn’t have to be super fancy or expensive to impress your friends. Just think of crowd-pleasers: cheese, crackers, veggies, fruit, and maybe a dip or two. Next time, I may also bring along a batch of fruit nachos. As long as you present your snacks in a visually-appealing way, your girlfriends will love it!
2. Cute Pool Floats:
Assuming you or one of your friends has a pool, it’s basically an unwritten rule that you will have at least one cute pool float at your summer party. The standard is definitely the giant donut pool float, but any of these pool accessories will be perfect. You might even be interested in a water slide hire perth or somewhere more local to you so you can have some cooling summer fun.
3. A Bar Cart:
If you have a bar cart, a girly summer party is definitely the time to bring it out! They offer that extra hint of style and sophistication to your party. They’re also incredibly practical, since they hold all of your basic bar items (booze, glasses, shakers, etc). Gabriella did a great job of adding a few simple girly touches, like inexpensive flower garland, to fit our theme.
A party just isn’t a party without music! Of course, it can be a bit of a challenge to find a playlist that makes everyone happy, but majority rules. In this case, my Country music and Kelly Clarkson playlists were quickly rejected. It’s okay – I just blasted my music in the car after the party!
5. Adorable Cookies:
Okay, these may not be “essential” to your summer party, but I guarantee your friends will love a fun, unique treat. If you’re in the Toronto-area, you need to check out the Dessert Lady. Her cookies are cute, memorable and most importantly, they’re delicious. The bonus? They make great Instagram props.
6. Refreshing (Gourmet) Popsicles:
Every year, there is always a “trendy” dessert that everyone is excited about. For years, it was cupcakes, then it was frozen yogurt and later, donuts. This year, it seems like everyone is talking about small-batch, gourmet popsicles. Until recently, I’d never tried a gourmet popsicle, but let me tell you – these popsicles from The Fix & Co were the best I’ve ever tasted!
7. Fresh Flowers:
As far as “decorations” are concerned, I’d argue that fresh flowers are really all you need. Just remember, you don’t need to go overboard. Try setting a small bouquet on the table with your food or drinks, and use a few loose flowers for garnishing. After all, it’s all about those little touches, right?
8. Cocktails…with Booze:
I don’t think I need to elaborate on this one.
9. Good friends:
Last but not least, the ultimate in summer party essentials: Friends! I love that I’ve connected with these fabulous Toronto bloggers and I’m so happy to call them friends. Whether it’s a group of old friends, new friends, or heck – even some of your co-workers, I guarantee, you will all have a lot of fun together.
So – there you have it! 9 (blogger-approved) summer party essentials. I hope I’ve inspired you to call up a couple of friends and make a plan to spend some time together before the summer ends. Also, be sure to check out Gabriella, Joelle and Eleni’s blogs for more summer party inspiration!
