Summer Chic

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 07/09/14

It’s officially summer vacation! Life is business as usual for this corporate girl, but I did go on a short and sweet trip out to Atlantic Canada over the long weekend. If you’ve never been to the East Coast, you need to make the trip. It was pretty incredible!

The last time I went on a long vacation was when I took a trip to Hawaii for two weeks with my 2 friends. It was an incredible experience and I can see why so many people have Hawaii on their bucket list! There’s just so much to do there that you could go for 2 months and do a new thing every day! You can go hiking, book a private charter with this company, road trip around the island, snorkel, sunbathe on the beaches, try the local food, the list goes on!

Though I’m from Canada, I really haven’t travelled domestically very often, I tend to just watch my friends go to these amazing and beautiful places like the Outer Banks beaches, which always makes me incredibly jealous and longing for that summer vacation! So when a friend of mine accepted a summer job in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to visit and make a trip out of it. As you can imagine, I have plenty of photos to sift through, and I’ll be sharing some with you soon.

Oh, and if you were wondering where I’ve been, my vacation is the reason behind for the my blogging hiatus. Oh, and now I’m home sick with a summer cold. Not to worry, I’m back, and working on some really exciting blog-related projects that I’ll be sharing with you in the next little while!

In the meantime, I wanted to share an outfit I wore just before heading out east. The outfit features my denim shorts, since I live in these during the summer. I have a couple variations on this style from Gap, and they’re basically perfect for everyday wear. I love that they’re not too short, they come in great washes, they fit well, and aren’t too sloppy to wear to work.

Recently, I channelled my inner hippie and wore them with my tie dye tank and a wide hair band. In order to feel a bit more polished, I threw on my favourite white blazer and called that an outfit. Of course, the blazer was mostly for indoor wear, since local businesses love blasting the air conditioning when it’s warm out. There is nothing like feeling that cold air on your body, especially if the weather is making you sweat. And that’s the good about wearing a blazer because you can take it on and off as you please. I had once made the mistake of wearing a jumper when I went to my friend’s house, not realising that her air con wasn’t working, and she was in the middle of contacting this jacksonville air conditioning company to come and sort the problem out for her. I don’t think I’ve ever been so warm as I was that day. Luckily, they sorted it out for my friend, but I think I’ve learnt my lesson. So, styling my outfit with a blazer is the best of both worlds. #firstworldproblems

This is adorable! I love it. Hope you feel better soon. The closest I’ve been to Canada is EPCOT. I would love to go to the east Atlantic Canadian coast in the winter and see snow on the beach. I just think that’s the coolest thing.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen snow on the beach either, but I’m such a warm weather girl, that I’d look to go back in the summer again 😉

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

Now that these have been gifted, I can share these Now that these have been gifted, I can share these!

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪
