What do weather, outfits, and emotions all have in common? All three can be bright, sunny and colourful…but they can also be gloomy, grey, and dark. It’s been pretty gloomy here in Toronto over the last several days. The weather has been been very “fall-like,” if you will. My outfit choices, as well as my mood, have paralleled the dreary weather this week.
Outfit Details:
Pink Martini – Can You Dig It Jacket c/o Lemonberry | Banana Republic Long Sleeve Striped Tee
Black Skinny Jeans c/o Lemonberry | Aritzia Plaid Blanket Scarf (Similar blanket scarf)
Banana Republic Bucket Bag (Other Banana Republic handbags)
I should add that my gloomy mood can’t really be attributed to the weather. In short, stress, uncertainty, looming change and “that time of the month” isn’t a pretty combination.
Despite all of that, I actually had a pretty awesome Saturday! I kicked off the morning with Blacktoe Running, who organized a 5k community run, in partnership with Stance Socks. Even though I haven’t kept up with my fitness routine this year, I was excited about the run. As it turns out, everyone (except me) was a pretty hardcore runner. Oops! I finished dead last, but I felt really good about it. After all, I managed to complete the 5k, without stopping for any breaks.
I was pretty fortunate to have met a great group of people, on the last leg of the run. These runners were a little bit slower than everyone else and noticed that I was struggling. They ran at my pace, encouraging me along the way. Their support helped me fight the burn! After the run, I treated myself to brunch at Colette. It doesn’t get better than that! I spent the afternoon recovering from the run, and then attended a party with NYX Canada.
The look: Striped Long Sleeve Tee, Black Jeans, Plaid
It’s actually been quite a while since the last time I mixed stripes and plaid on the blog!
At the end of the summer, I bought this long sleeve striped tee from Banana Republic. It’s lightweight and cozy, so it’s been a great transitional piece. I’ve worn it with my favourite boyfriend jeans and have plans to pair it with my black denim skirt. When you’re working with great basics, the possibilities are endless. I’ll probably replicate Jean’s outfit at some point this fall, too.
In this case, I based my outfit around the striped long sleeve tee, black jeans, and a plaid scarf. For additional warmth (and interest to the outfit), I added this cute Pink Martini oversized trench.
What’s your favourite way to style a striped long sleeve tee, black jeans and a coat for fall?

It’s really, really difficult to get started. I don’t know how people do long distance, but you have to start somewhere! 🙂
