The Story Behind the Skirt

How to wear a jean jacket with a skirt - Toronto Fashion Blogger

It’s official, my new denim jacket is making its first appearance on the blog! Isn’t she a beaut? As you may recall, I’d mentioned in a previous post that I was looking for a high-quality, classic denim jacket. As it turned out, Shopbop had what I was looking for (and then some). I mean really, check out all of the options!

On a non-denim-jacket-related-note, I wanted to share an embarrassing story from the day I bought this skirt. When I was in the fitting room trying it on, I almost had one of those Buzzfeed-worthy poop stories come to life! Seriously. It had been an uneventful day of shopping, until out of nowhere, I felt those “cold sweats” sweep over my body, followed by sheer panic. I basically sat down and tried figure out if I had enough time to change back into my clothes and find a washroom. Luckily, the feeling quickly passed, so I ended up having enough time to get dressed and buy the skirt without any real embarrassing moments. Moving forward though, this skirt will remind me of the time I almost had a “poop situation” occur at Banana Republic.  We all have those moments, right?

Anyhow, now that I’ve embarrassed myself for the day, I should mention that if you’re looking for more inspiration for how to style a denim jacket, be sure to check out this post!

Lol thankfully most of those “moments” happen at home! But I have had to ask to use the washroom for my kids. Sometimes the stores have them inside the store for the staff. Love the outfit. White and denim is so classic.

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

Now that these have been gifted, I can share these Now that these have been gifted, I can share these!

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
