Shopping for Summer at Dixie Outlet Mall

in Outfit Post on 06/27/16

Style savings by Toronto Fashion Blogger at Dixie Outlet Mall

In the world of fashion, everyone has an opinion about when to splurge and when to save. In my opinion, you should splurge on classic pieces, that will carry you throughout multiple seasons. By splurging on wardrobe staples, you get more bang for your buck. This is why I’d argue that if you’re going to splurge on a dress, it should be a little black dress.

There’s no denying that a LBD is a wardrobe staple, so if you have to spend a little bit more to find something you love, it’s justifiable. You can wear it time and time again, while always feeling sophisticated, professional, beautiful and maybe even a little bit sexy.

But…considering I practically live in dresses during the summer, I need more than one! The problem is, summer is such a short season, so I can’t justify spending a lot of money on a dress that may only get worn a handful of times in a year. This is why I typically like to go the “save” route when I’m shopping for summer clothing.

Needless to say, I was excited to partner with my friends at the Dixie Outlet Mall in Mississauga – just outside of Toronto. With over 120 stores to choose from, the Dixie Outlet Mall is one of Canada’s largest enclosed outlet malls, so you know there’s some serious deals to be had. They provided me with a $150 gift card to use towards putting together a stylish, summer outfit.

Upon arriving at the mall, It didn’t take long before I found some great pieces. Bluenotes was a gold mine for affordable boho clothing, all of which would have looked adorable with the accessories I saw at Ardene. I left those behind, since I wanted a cute dress that would take me from office to patio to dinner party. I was browsing the internet yesterday and saw the title ‘Discover the collection of boho maxi skirt‘, they all looked so chic and beautiful, they are for definite on my list of clothes to get for the summers to come! Since I typically do well at Winners, that’s where I went hunting for dresses. Of course, they had tons of great options to choose from and almost all of them were very reasonably priced. I ended up with a beautiful white eyelet dress, since it fit me like a glove…and it had pockets. I would even go as far as saying that this dress may be cuter than my other white dress!

Next, I went to the Aldo outlet, where I found a pretty, pastel pink bag with an oversized bow on the front. Very designer-inspired! I also couldn’t help but try on some of the fun and trendy statement sunglasses they had on display. I went with a girly, oversized pair, with pink accents to match my bag, since yes, I love to match! Last but not least, I wandered into the Laura Outlet. I’ll be honest. I wasn’t expecting to find anything “trendy”, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful marble and gold choker. So yes, they have trendy pieces.

I live in dresses all summer too. They’re too easy and so cute! I also agree it is hard to justify splurging on them since you only get to wear them 3/12 months of the year. Outlet shopping is my friend! Love how you look fab and didn’t have to splurge!

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
