shopping my closet for florals

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 08/28/15

Thank you so much for all of the kind words on my last post! I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I will keep you posted on my progress as I build a portfolio…and try to sort out my career again.

In the meantime, I wanted to talk about fall florals. Now, I’m a girl who loves a good floral print, so I love seeing options that transition perfectly into the fall. I’ve been swooning over the fall florals at Indigo, but I’ve been shopping my closet instead.

I often fall into the trap of thinking that I always need to wear new clothes on the blog. It’s almost like that perfect ‘excuse’ to buy that new top or pair of shoes that you want but don’t really need. The whole point of (my) fashion blog is to showcase my everyday style…and I don’t wear new clothes everyday! I’m always re-wearing old favourites (like these shorts) and pulling out other pieces from the back of the closet that I don’t wear as often.

It is SO easy to just keep buying new things, even when you don’t need them! I love that you don’t let yourself fall into that trap. Restyling your clothes is so much more fun and creative anyway!

Honestly, I’ve been known to fall into that trap. As soon as I went back to school and left my full-time job, that mind set switched!

I’ve been doing a pretty good job lately of shopping my closet lately, but now I’m tired of summer clothes, so I want to wear all of the fall clothes that have been neglected for too long! This kimono is lovely! I’ve been thinking of getting an inexpensive one for when the office is really cold!

I’m a bit bored of summer clothes too, but I’m not ready to wear my fall pieces yet…but a big reason is that it’s been warm here these days. We have plenty of opportunities to get into fall and winter clothing around here, so no rush!

I’ve been struggling with buying new things just for the blog, but like you, I’ve been trying to shop my closet more and just find new and creative ways to wear old items.
I adore that kimono and I think it works perfectly for Autumn, especially the way you styled it. I especially love your shoes! So fab!

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
