Secret’s Out

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 09/24/13

Are blogs supposed to be kept a secret from certain people?

Honestly, I am not sure if there’s really an answer to that question. For me though, up until recently, only certain people in my life were aware that I kept a blog. I didn’t intentionally keep it a secret, but if someone isn’t familiar with the concept, it can sound a bit strange. I mean, try explaining to someone who’s never seen a fashion blog what it is. “I have a page on the internet where I post a bunch of selfies and sometimes, what I ate or did on the weekend. It’s totally cool though, there’s a huge community of blogger’s out there.”

* crickets *

For that reason, this blog wasn’t something I spoke about too much at work. I mentioned it here and there, but no one really asked questions. Until, last week.

As I mentioned recently, I just bought myself a DSLR camera (which I’m absolutely loving!!) and I’ve been excited to use it and make this blog better. Even though I’m waiting on the camera bag I ordered to arrive, I decided to bring it to work the other day.

I managed to sneak out of the office without anyone noticing, but then I came back and everyone was eating lunch. They looked at me, holding this massive camera and a tripod and asked me what on earth I was doing.

Ummm….. Busted???? Luckily, I work with a creative bunch, so I think they get it.

On another note, I was excited to re-kindle my love affair with this blazer. I bought it a few years ago, but for some reason, I think it will get more wear this year than it did in the past. Maybe I’m just more “sophisticated” this year. Or older. Let’s stick with sophisticated, shall we?

Outfit Details:
Blazer – Gap (old)
Tank – Urban Outfitters (hello, $7.00 on sale)
Jeggings – !iT Jeans
Booties – Arturo Chiang via The Bay
Purse – Roots
Spiked Bracelet – Stella & Dot

Side note – I chopped off some hair and dyed it darker for fall. So glad I did, looking back at these pictures!

You will come and go with the blazer, but because it’s so classic it will probably never leave it’s lovely home with you.
I tried explaining my blog to my Grandma. *smh.* Now I let my adorable kiddos do the talking. They tell people I model online lol.

HA – that’s a good one! If I told people I model on line, there’s no way they’d believe that one, since I’m a whopping 5′ 1″. It probably sounds more convincing from the kiddos 🙂

I am first of all loving your hair in these pictures! I didn’t tell a lot of people about my blog because I was worried about being judged or thought of as conceited. More and more I stopped caring what people thought because I realized I loved blogging and how it was a great creative outlet for me. My friend Amanda was the one who helped me get everything started!

Thanks, but now the hair is totally different! These photos are one of the reasons I thought to change it. We’re our worst critics, right?

It’s awesome that Amanda helped push you towards blogging, especially because you love it so much!

OMG I just recently discovered that just about all of my co-workers know about my blog!! I just didn’t discuss it. I knew one girl knew because she found it through my etsy shop but then my boss said something to me one day about being a fashion blogger… I was a little mortified but I have since recovered.
Love this look! And I love it when I find something hiding in my closet that I haven’t worn in a long time (and sometimes have forgotten about). It is like getting something new and seeing an old friend all at the same time!

NOOOO!!! I too would have been a little bit freaked out, but I’m glad to hear you’ve since moved on! LOL

Yes – I often compare finding a hidden hem in the closet to rekindling an old friendship 🙂

Haha aw man, the moment of explaining you have a fashion blog is always so complicated! I usually avoid telling people about it because I live in such a small town, people don’t get it.

hahah totally busted! for the first 6 months i was the same way- i felt kind of weird letting people i knew know i had a fashion blog. I think the whole concept of taking pictures of your outfit was weird to them haha. but then it started becoming more and more important to me so i decided to let everyone know. and it definitely helps you work with creatives- theyre more open minded about that 🙂 and cant wait to see you with darker locks 😉

After so many months of waiting, we finally said goodbye to our little Toronto rental and moved to our new home in Newmarket!

The next week or so will be a state of chaos, as the house isn’t exaaaaaaactly ready yet, but that’s okay - we’re here! 🥰

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!
