This Week’s Reads, Eats and Buys

Cures Studio in Toronto's Liberty Village

Last week, I enjoyed a fabulous manicure at Cures Studio in Liberty Village.

After a warm and sunny weekend, it’s finally starting to feel like spring around here. Despite a bit of a lingering chill in the air, it felt incredible to be outside this weekend. I spent Saturday afternoon in the Distillery District, and it was beautiful. There were so many other people walking around and enjoying the weather, too. There were even people sitting out on patios! It was glorious.

We shot some new looks over the weekend, which I can’t wait to share this week. In the meantime, here’s this week’s reads, eats and buys.

Favourite Reads:

  • Tips for Introverts – Even though I classify myself as an Introverted Extrovert, I found a lot of these tips useful.
  • 20 Things To Do In Spring – Sign me up for spring picnics, hikes and driving with the windows down.
  • 8 Blog Photography Mistakes You Might Be Making – I can’t believe what a difference the camera’s angle can make on the final shot. Can you?
  • How to Clean Your Tech – I’m not sure I’ve ever cleaned my tech…
  • The Work Problem All Millennials Face – I can definitely say I’ve had (and continue to have) this problem.

Favourite Eats:

  • Unicorn Cheesecake Bars – I’m not even a fan of cheesecake, but I’d make these just for Instagram.
  • Bacon, Broccoli and Potato Frittata – A delicious addition to an at-home brunch!
  • Key Lime Cupcakes – I love key lime, so these sound like heaven.
  • Baked Eggs With Avocado and Feta – Apparently, I have brunch on the brain, because this recipe also caught my attention.

Favourite Buys:

  • Madewell Smocked Gingham Off The Shoulder Top – Gingham isn’t usually “my thing,” but I think this top is adorable!
  • Vince Camuto Peep-Toe Mules – I don’t (yet) own a pair of mules, but these might be a contender.
  • Foley + Corinna Mini Brittany Satchel – This bag is adorable for spring!
  • Topshop Side Split Tee – If you’re on the hunt for basics, you need this tee.
  • Kate Spade iPhone 7 Shake It Up Phone Case – I think this is the coolest phone case ever…except that I have a 7+. First world problems, huh?

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

Now that these have been gifted, I can share these Now that these have been gifted, I can share these!

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

2020 is the year of the handwritten, handmade card 2020 is the year of the handwritten, handmade card - at least, at my house! Actually, it’s more than cards being handmade these days 😌

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

My cute little DIY project is complete! 🥰 I lo My cute little DIY project is complete! 🥰

I love how these little toques (aka: beanies) turned out. I also had a couple extras in a different yarn, so I added string and threw them on the tree!

BY THE WAY...I did that foot mask the other night and I’m eagerly awaiting what promises to be some satisfying results. #ifyouknowyouknow 😬

Seriously.

@its.miller.potcake.time rocked his lederhosen and fancy chapeau!

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
