Hump day already? I hope you’re all having a great week! I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last few days out on the golf course for an activation I’ve been working, so no complaints here. The only issue with working on the golf course is that I have to keep within a very specific dress code. The outfit may not feel like “me,” but by sticking within my typical makeup routine, I still feel like myself.
It probably won’t surprise you to hear that in my high school days, I had a tendency to go a little bit overboard with my makeup. I would rock a purple smokey eye, thick eyeliner, and metallic lipstick almost every single day. I’m sure there’s photographic evidence floating around somewhere!
As I got older (and got better at applying makeup), I started to focus more on my complexion and less on my eye makeup. Instead of (way too much) purple eyeshadow, I started wearing neutral eyeshadow. Most days though, I stick with mascara like ones from Xlash.co.uk and a thin swipe of black liquid eyeliner. When I feel like adding a little bit more drama, I’ll add a cat eye. Sometimes I may even add winged eyeliner using Lovoir.com products like the eyeliner stamp.
When I’m in the mood to experiment with colour, I’ll often go for a bold lip. I love lipstick and I’m always expanding my collection. In the last year or so that I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox, I’ve come to discover a number of bold colours that I never would have chosen on my own.
In my most recent box, I was so excited to find a full-sized liquid eyeliner…until I realized it was blue. I was a little bit hesitant to try it, since I was worried it would be high school all over again. The verdict? It’s not as bad as I thought, but I’m still not 100% sure about it. What do you think?
