Do you ever think about how your sense of style evolves over time?
Since I’m the one asking, I obviously think about this. As a fashion blogger, it’s easy for me to look back at my style by scrolling through old posts, but not everyone can do this. I actually like going through old Facebook albums to see how my style has changed (and in what ways it hasn’t). It’s a bit scary, but I’ve really noticed my style has matured as I’ve gotten *older.*
It’s the little things. For example, a few years ago, my grandmother gave me a fur stole that she thought I would like. It was completely gorgeous and I loved the idea of it. I know it was trendy, because I saw similar versions at retail. Even though I loved it, I didn’t feel like it was “me” enough to wear. It may have been a confidence issue in pulling off such a bold accessory, but I also wonder if my style was too juvenile at the time.
The other day, I was trying to come up with an outfit that looked professional and fun, because I had to wear said outfit to work, a lunch meeting and a client holiday party. I knew I needed something cozy, but also a bit dressier, too.
I’m not sure why it came to mind, but I thought of the stole and it felt like the perfect accessory.
What I’m Wearing:
Cardigan – Old Navy (Similar)
Blouse – J.Crew (Same)
Skirt – Saks Off Fifth (Similar)
Necklace – Stella&Dot (Same)
Stole – Vintage (Similar)
Purse – Roots (Newer Version)
Have you ever found that you need to be more “mature” in order to wear certain things?
