My Home Apparel - Winter in Ontario

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Unless this is your first time visiting Something About That (and if it is, welcome!), then you probably know that I’m a jeans and cardigan kind of girl…especially in the winter. I prefer jeans to dresses because I hate wearing tights and I prefer cardigans to pullover sweaters because I love to layer. Layers add so much visual interest to an outfit, allowing you to really show off your personality through your unique look.

Since I wear cardigans so often, I’m always searching for cute tees and tanks to wear underneath them. Needless to say, I was very excited when I discovered My HOME Apparel, so I could show off my Ontario pride and look stylish to boot!

My HOME Apparel is a Canadian company, based out of a small town in Nova Scotia. They work to create quality, stylish clothing that allows you to show off the province that you call “home.” I’ll be the first to admit that I complain about living here a lot, but it’s mostly because I’m not a fan of the winter. Even though I complain,  I’ve never lived anywhere else, so even if I move away, Ontario will always be my home and I’m proud of that. Ontario is an incredible and diverse province. Living so close to Toronto (one of the biggest Canadian cities) is something I take for granted, but Ontario is so much more than Toronto. Ontario is home to some breathtaking lakes and hiking trails. If you’ve ever been camping in Muskoka or Algonquin park, you know the types of sights that I’m referring to!

One of the other reasons I fell in love with My HOME Apparel (aside from how cute the Ontario t-shirt is) is because of their efforts to give back. Obviously, by supporting them, you help to provide local jobs…but it’s bigger than that!

They understand that ‘home’ is important to everyone, but having a warm place to call home is something that so many of us (myself included) take for granted. In September 2015, My HOME Apparel partnered with Shelter NS, The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness and 20K Homes to help to end homelessness in Canada. This means, 5% of their profits go towards initiatives to end homelessness in Canada. They believe that together, we can make a difference.

Pretty neat, right?

I’ve been seeing these tees for a while now and I think they’re so cool! It’s great to support local companies that give back to the community too.

This sounds like a super cool company, and the top is too cute! I also think that there’s SO MUCH more to Ontario than just Toronto! We have some ridiculously stunning scenery.

I’m a jeans and cardigan year all year round haha! One can never have enough pairs of jeans or cardigans! This shirt is so cute! I’ve always wanted a shirt like this with the shape of NY, but I’ve never found one! The search continues!

Me too….except in the summer the cardigans are a LOT lighter, right?

I can’t believe you haven’t found a NY tee. I would think you’d have so many options, but maybe they’re NYC focused instead!

These photos are adorable and I love the My Home t-shirt! I’m not usually a jeans and t-shirt girl, but have found myself pulling on pants more and more now that I cycle everywhere. I love looking to your blog for inspiration, Jackie!

I never used to be a t-shirt kind of girl either, but I find there’s so many fun options out there, that you’re bound to connect with some of them.

I’m so glad I can help inspire, even if it’s in a small way, though I hate that I may have made you a bit homesick! <3

What a great brand – not only are you supporting a local business, you’re helping end homelessness! Two birds, one stone! :]
It’s a great shirt and styled flawlessly once again by you. I am always amazed at how you manage to make a basic jeans-and-cardi combination look so different and chic every time!

I felt the same way, which is why I was so proud to give some background on the company AND wear the tee.

And thank you so much for the kind words! I really find a tee and jeans give way to countless fun outfit combos! 🙂

It makes my heart melt when I hear that clothing proceeds help those in need. It is so important for companies to do this but not all of them do. I was watching the documentary the True cost of Fashion the other day and I couldn’t believe some of the statistics they shared. Lovely post!!

The fashion industry is very, very scary when you start to learn about it a little bit more.

I just love the feeling you get from supporting a local company in general, but when you support a company that supports other people…that’s just awesome!
