Something About That

Modern Hippy

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 08/21/13

After a bit of a glitch, I’m happy to say that summer temperatures have returned in Southern Ontario. As much as I love fall clothes, I’m never prepared to say goodbye to my entire summer wardrobe in August.

To make the most of the warmer weather, I’m making sure that my shorts get some more love before they get shoved underneath my bed to collect dust for 8 months. I picked up these shorts last year, and forgot I had them, so when I cleaned out my closet the other day, I brought them to the front.

I decided to put together a simple outfit and spice it up a little bit with some more bold accessories, like my giant bauble necklace and hippy headband.

Lately, I have been loving headbands! Like many trends, I first noticed the style through reading blogs, and then spotting them in store. I have a very small head, so it was a bit of a search to find one that fits.

When I found this headband at Brandy Melville, I gave it a try and it actually fit. It was a no-brainer that it was coming home with me, but the fact that there’s a giant bow definitely helped.

How would you style a headband differently?

I know, I seriously don’t understand how they get away with one size fits all.

On the other hand, some of their tops are so oversized that they’re TOO big for me….and I don’t come close to fitting into a lot of their stuff.

The accessories at Brandy Melville are my favorite – the rings alone are always worth a stop! I love headbands in the summer, they look cute and stylish 🙂

I love the sunset colored necklace paired with seersucker shorts!

Do you live outside Toronto? I actually visit there quite often because my BF is from there! Fun city… I just haven’t explored the shops as much as I should!! Any great (and affordable) stores you’d recommend?

And now I know why you don’t go to Target that often… I’ve heard it’s more pricey than in the US and not as great stuff that we have! Make an emergency trip across the border ASAP 🙂

Thanks again for stopping by my blog!

I live outside of Toronto, but I’m relatively close by.

I don’t really shop in the city too often, because I’m mainly there for work. I love shopping on Queen street though, because there’s a ton of great chain and local shops around there, but there’s some pretty good shopping up in mid Town on Yonge too.

I always feel like I need to make a trip across the border though…the shopping always seems to be better (and so are the prices).
