Matrix Biolage RAW Shampoo and Conditioner Review

in Beauty on 11/01/16

This is probably a silly question…but don’t you just love a good hair day?  I’m always on the hunt to find the best tools and products to ensure that I have as many good hair days as possible. I’m fortunate that part of my job as a blogger is to try out the latest and greatest in fashion, beauty, haircare, and more! This means, I don’t have to look hard to find new products to experiment with. While I can’t devote a post to each and every product I try, I like to talk about products that stand out to me. One of the lines that I’ve recently tried (and loved) is Matrix Biolage RAW. I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks, so I’m sharing the details and a review. Scroll through for more!

Matrix Biolage RAW Shampoo and Conditioner - Review

Review of the Matrix Biolage R.A.W. collection

the Matrix Biolage Raw collection

The Matrix Biolage RAW collection is a new, exciting addition to the natural beauty market. Traditional shampoo and conditioners contain sulfates, artificial colourants, cationic polymers and silicones. These are chemicals! When you think about it, doesn’t it seem a bit crazy to regularly put chemicals in your hair?

On the other hand, the Biolage RAW products contain up to 95% natural ingredients. If you go to the Matrix Biolage RAW website, you can learn more about the ingredients they use, as well as where they come from. I think that’s pretty neat!

The Matrix Biolage RAW collection is made up of three lines, to address different types of hair. For dull, dry hair, you can try Nourish, and for stressed, sensitized hair, you can try Recover. Since I have flat, fine hair, I’ve been using the Uplift shampoo and conditioner.

A review of Matrix Biolage R.A.W. hair products

Review of the Matrix Biolage RAW Uplift Shampoo and Conditioner

Uplift- For flat, fine hair:

The Uplift shampoo contains sesame seeds and grapefruit, to purify flat, fine hair without harsh stripping. The conditioner contains kiwi and kaolin clay, which conditions, without added weight. Thanks to these ingredients, they also smell amazing! I tend to wash my hair at night, sleep with it in a bun, and blow dry the next morning. I’ve noticed that when I take my hair out of the wet bun, I can still smell the shampoo and conditioner. For me, that’s a positive quality, but I know that not everyone is a fan of strong scents. If you prefer a more mild fragrance, this may not be the best shampoo and conditioner for you.

If you’ve tried other natural shampoos before, you may have found that they don’t lather well. One of the reasons I love the Matrix Biolage RAW shampoo is because it does. Granted, it doesn’t lather as much as some of the more traditional options out there, but it holds its own. I like my shampoo to lather, so it feels like it’s doing its job to clean my hair. Does that make sense? As gross as it sounds, I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, so it can get quite greasy. The Matrix Biolage RAW shampoo and conditioner manages to get rid of the grease, and leaves my hair feeling clean and fresh.

I’d love to say that my hair has doubled in volume, but sadly, it’s not magic. What I can say is that my hair is silky and smooth and holds the beachy waves that I add with my curling wand.

Review of the Matrix Biolage RAW Uplift Shampoo and Conditioner

All and all, I’ve been very happy with the Matrix Biolage RAW products that I’ve been using, from the Uplift collection. If you’re looking to try out a natural hair care line, this may be it! I also happen to love the packaging! It’s eco-friendly (up to 99% biodegradable) and offers the added bonus of being adorable.

You can purchase the Matrix Biolage RAW products at Matrix Salons. You can use the Matrix Salon Locator to one one near you.

I received the Matrix Biolage RAW shampoo and conditioner as PR samples, but this post isn’t at all sponsored. I wasn’t required to post a review, but chose to because I really like them and have been using them on a regular basis.

Have you tried any natural hair products? Have they worked for you?

          Hi everyone,
What a great review, I heard great things about the products from my hair dresser 🙂
But she then recommended MONAT to me because of many different reasons which I could share with you if you want.
Has any of you ever tried it?
MONAT is available in the US and in Canada.
It has been a blessing for me and my husband and my daughter.
If you would like to contact me and if you would like some samples please don’t hesitate:

I am so intrigued by this!! Hey if you are willing to blog about a product, that says something! Although I might mistake the bottle for a green juice haha!

This shampoo & conditioner combo sounds so amazing!! I love hearing about brands that stay away from all those nasty chemicals. It does seem crazy that for years we routinely put stuff like that in our hair. Thanks for sharing!!

I need to try these!! I always find that sulfate free shampoos don’t lather, and I love that these do! They sound perfect, especially without all the chemicals.

Ohhh this sounds great! I love that it is mostly natural! It can be so stressful to find good hair products. I wonder if they have anything for ridiculously thick, dry curly hair?

I started using the RAW Nourishing products about a year ago. I won’t go back to shampoos/conditioners with chemicals. I love everything about this line. My hair feels clean without feeling stripped. I shampoo/condition about 2-3 times a week also because it’s just healthier for your hair. The conditioner is thick, with the feel of a mask at first but penetrates deep toward the scalp. After towel drying using strokes away from the scalp, I top it off with a small amount (maybe four drops) of pure Argan oil.

As a guy, I’ve never paid a lot of attention to the products I use. If it worked, I ran with it. But once you start taking better care of your hair and start to see the reults…it hooks you. Quality matters when it comes to your hair care. And quite frankly, it shows as well.

These ricotta ravioli were part of the super limited @lapalmato x @jdippolito collab with @bondiproduce. I made some seared chicken breast and roasted asparagus to go with it - both from Bondi and both made next level good because of the sauces from La Palma.

It’s been 14 months and counting since my last in-person visit to a restaurant (lots of takeout), so meals like this are are special.

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)
