Denim and a Pop of Red From Lemonberry

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 04/30/16

Safari Jacket, Printed Tank and Ripped Jeans - Toronto Street Style

Happy Saturday! I’m so excited to share my second look from the shoot I did with Lemonberry a few weeks ago. In case you missed it, you can check out the first look here. Because my first look was ultra girly, I went with a casual, yet glamorous vibe for my second outfit.

I realize it’s not often that you hear the words “casual” and “glamorous” used to describe the same outfit…but those were the words that come to mind for me. The distressed denim and safari jacket are definitely more on the casual side, but by adding a few pops of red, the outfit takes on another dimension of style.

A woman who wears red almost always looks confident, stylish, chic and even a little bit edgy. It doesn’t take a lot of red to create this type of image. In fact, I think less is more. It’s as simple as adding a red clutch, or a swipe of lipstick!

Even though I don’t have a lot of red in my wardrobe, I rock a red lip quite often…despite the fact that I almost always get it all over my teeth. I realize that a fear of having lipstick on your teeth can take away from the sense of confidence the red lip is supposed to create, but Victoria Bourque (the incredible makeup artist behind this shoot) let me in on a secret. If you want your lipstick to stay in place, use a lipliner, rather than a lipstick. Well folks, I got through the shoot without a lipstick-covered smile, so I think she’s onto something there!

Looks gorgeous! I loove a pop of red as well – it always brings something to an outfit, can’t beat a red lip too!

Super cute outfit! I consider red to be my power color as I always feel confident and strong when I wear it! I too have a difficult time with red lipstick so that lipliner trick is a good idea that I will probably use in the near future haha!

I love the pops of red in this look! I totally agree that red, especially lipstick, = confidence. You look very pretty in this outfit, Jackie.
