layering in (early) spring

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 04/06/15

Happy Monday, Happy Easter and Happy Passover!

If you celebrated one (or both) of these holidays this past weekend, I hope you enjoyed the family time and of course, all of the incredible food. I always eat way too much at family dinners, because everything is too delicious to pass up. It’s okay, it just means salad for lunch all week. Am I right?

Salad is my typical lunch of choice anyway. I keep mine interesting and filling, by including a range of toppings (cheese, avocado, roasted peppers, chick peas, quinoa, etc) and always making my own vinaigrette. It’s amazing what a difference a little bit of thought can make, especially once we start seeing seasonal produce hit the shelves.

I haven’t noticed a lot of seasonal produce just yet, but I’m sure it won’t be long before I do. After all, it’s April already!

In addition to fresh produce, at this time of year, I also like to reintroduce ‘spring’ into my closet. I’ve put away a lot of my bulky clothing, and brought out my lighter weight pieces.

I was really excited to bring my utility vest back into the front of my closet and have already worn it a few times in the last couple of weeks. It’s fun to dress it up, but I most often pair it with jeans and a tee, just like I did the other day.

That last picture is pure perfection. I love sassy pictures that really show personality. I pulled out my light weight vests too and boy have they been getting some action. I missed them dearly.

I love the light layers here paired with pastel accents. What a lovely vest! I saw the exact same one at Old Navy a while back and for the life of me I can’t remember why I skipped over it. It looks amazing on you!

Avocados and chick peas are two of my favorite items to include in my salads! So yum and filling. You look adorable in this outfit. The utility vest ties everything together very nicely!

I love a good salad! Ever since I discovered how easy it is to make a homemade dressing, I never buy one from the store. You look so pretty in these photos. Love the clutch.

I’m almost embarrassed by the amount of cheesy potatoes and pie I ate last weekend! However, I ended up getting sick the last few days, and barely touched any food, so it all evened out. Haha. That said, I’m looking forward to seasonal produce too!

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
