I have thin, fine hair, which has caused me grief my entire life. I was never able to rock scrunchies as a kid (they always fell out), and I’ve never been able to grow my hair out too far past my shoulders. My fine hair is also the reason that you’ll never catch me with straight hair. In fact, I don’t even own a hair straightener! I always like to add a bit of curl or wave into my hairstyle. The curls give my hair body, which gives the illusion of having more volume.
When I was recently given the opportunity to visit the Medulla & Co. salon in Yorkville to get my hair done and learn about the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler, you better believe I was excited. Like any girl, I love getting my hair done, but I also love playing with new hair tools and products.
I had a fantastic experience at the salon and I loved how my hair looked after the appointment. My hair was shiny, smooth and perfectly curled. My stylist used the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler to curl my hair, and she achieved the final look so quickly! As she went through my hair, she explained how to use the tool, but I couldn’t help but wonder if I’d have the same experience on my own.
After enjoying my salon-perfect hair for a couple of days (pictured in the collage above), I was eager to give the InstaWave a try.
How to use the Kiss Instawave Automatic Curler
How the it works is you place a section of hair onto the clip on the barrel, and press a button. When you hold down the button, the wand spins and catches the rest of that section, wrapping it around the barrel. Depending on which button you press, it will spin either clockwise or counterclockwise. It’s a smart design, since it ensures you’ll have more natural-looking waves. Once all of your hair is wrapped around the barrel, you leave it there for a few seconds and voila – you have curls!
Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler Review
I’ll be honest. There is a little bit of a learning curve that you need to work through, but it gets easier after you play around with it. Even the second time I used it, I found the process much quicker and easier than the first time. Now that I’ve had it for a couple of weeks, I can get beachy waves in about 3-5 minutes.
The only issue that I still have with the Instawave is that I haven’t yet figured out how to get more volume closer to my scalp. The curls tend to start lower on my head than with a traditional curling iron. All that said, I’ve been very happy with the Instawave, since it delivers on it’s promise. You get salon-worthy beachy waves quickly and easily. Best of all, it helps to create the illusion of having more volume in your hair!
