Show Your Teeth Some Love – No Excuses!

in Lifestyle on 04/10/17

Jackie Goldhar is a Toronto-based life and style blogger, talking about the importance of oral heath with the Ontario Dental Association

Over the last few years, I’ve gone through a number of career changes. I went from working a full-time job in sales, to spending a semester as a full-time student. After that, I worked briefly as a web designer, before landing a job as a social media coordinator at a marketing agency. What am I doing now? Well, for the last 6 months, I’ve been blogging and freelancing full-time. That sounds like a lot of job hopping, doesn’t it?

It seems as though moving from job-to-job is pretty common for millennials. The reason I’ve pursued a number of different paths is because I don’t want to settle. I want to be happy, challenged and fulfilled in my career and I know there’s plenty of others who want the same. Anytime my career choice has lacked those qualities, I’ve moved on. While I’ve never regretted leaving a job, the obvious downside to changing careers is that it can take its toll on your salary.

Regardless of how many 0’s there are on my paycheque each week, there are certain things that I will always spend my money on.

  • dental checkups. As your overall hygiene is important, visiting your local dentist for a checkup should be something that everyone should consider. Whether you live in Michigan and you are thinking about visiting a Dentist in Roseville or you live in London, it is in your best interest to look after your teeth. A lot of people do regret not spending enough time looking after themselves when they should have. I’m sure you don’t want this to be you.

I’m aware that some of these are more frivolous than others, but they’re all important to me. They are things that make me feel good; both mentally and physically. Despite the fact that time and money aren’t always plentiful, I find a way to make it work.

At first glance, it may seem a little bit out of place to include dental checkups on my list. However, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen me preach on my stories about the importance of regular dental checkups. Like I can’t stress this enough, if you haven’t been to your dentist recently then you need to go. If you don’t have a dentist then there are plenty that you can go and see (such as this Oak Street Dental surgery), so you need to go and make sure you do it asap.

Canadian lifestyle blogger shares some of the things she likes to splurge on

I get it – going to the dentist isn’t necessarily a “fun” thing to do, but that doesn’t make it any less important. To me, going for regular dental checkups are just as important as brunch dates.

COMMON REASONS PEOPLE AVOID DENTAL CHECKUPS:

People come up with so many excuses for not going to the dentist on a regular basis. Here’s a few of the common ones that may resonate with you –

“I hate going to the dentist!” – Nobody enjoys dental checkups, but sometimes, we all have to do things we don’t like. Nowadays, many dentists make it a priority to ease dental anxiety for their patients. Trust me, if you visit regularly, your teeth and mouth will be healthier, so the experience will be a lot better.

“I don’t have time” – I’ve got news for you. Everyone is busy! That said, everyone can make time for the things that matter to them. Keep in mind, there are plenty of dental offices that are open during the evenings or weekends. Why not find a dentist near work and go on your lunch break?

“It’s too expensive and I don’t have benefits” – Now…this one, I understand. I don’t have dental benefits either, but I still go for regular dental checkups. I also recently needed to have a tooth filled, so I paid out of pocket to have that done. Obviously, I’d rather take that money and put it towards clothing or travel, but to me, visits to the dentist are non-negotiable expenses. I view dental checkups in the same way as car expenses. Not fun, but necessary. As well, if you take proper care of your teeth, they will stay healthier and save you money in the long run. For the record, a filling is much more affordable (and less painful) than a root canal.

YOUR TEETH ARE WORTH IT – GET REGULAR DENTAL CHECKUPS

Ultimately, I believe that teeth are a big deal! We all go to great lengths to care for our skin, hair, and bodies for the sake of health, wellness and feeling confident about ourselves. Maintaining a beautiful and healthy smile falls into that same category. Shouldn’t your teeth get the same type of love?

I’m proud to say that I brush my teeth twice a day, floss (almost) every single day, and visit my dentist for regular checkups. Despite my sweet tooth, I also think twice about eating sugary candies, or drinking soda. Why? Because ultimately, prevention is key to maintaining a healthy smile. It is very important to think about your oral hygiene. By researching into something like cosmetic dentist San Diego, you’ll see how important it is to keep a clean, healthy smile and the benefits of visiting the dentist regularly. Don’t forget about the importance of maintaining proper dental hygiene of the entire family; brunswickdentist.com.au provide family dental services that you may want to get in touch with them about.

If you didn’t already know this, April is Oral Health Month. No more excuses – do yourself a favour and visit your dentist for a checkup and cleaning.

I really needed to read this today. I’ve been sort of ‘floating’ trying to figure out which job makes me happiest. Even if I’m dabbling in many jobs, I want that to be okay and it’s nice to know someone else doesn’t settle either!

    Go women!

    Thanks for a lovely post!

Okay now I’m convicted about going to the dentist!! Haha, but in all seriousness, I know I need to go. It’s the benefits thing that holds me back — spending money sucks!!!!

You are saying some love for teeth; rather you should show more than some love. Because they are not only for chopping food, they as well define your personality. So if you want to get a good attraction of folks and improve self-esteem then you should be more sensible about their health and look.

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

Now that these have been gifted, I can share these Now that these have been gifted, I can share these!

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
