Lately, I’ve been wearing glasses a lot more often than I used to. It may sound a little silly, but I’ve become much more aware of my eyes and how healthy they are. Of course, I want the best vision possible so I’m doing everything I can to keep them in tip-top condition. I’ve even thought about including zinc orotate into my diet as zinc helps vitamin A create melanin, which creates a protective layer over your eye. As you can imagine, there’s many reasons that I’ve been choosing glasses over contacts, but one of the biggest is that I’ve been waking up extra early in the morning.
Let me preface by saying, waking up early has never been easy for me. Even though I love the idea of waking up early, it’s still difficult to motivate myself to physically get out of bed! Naturally, the early wakeup time has been one of the biggest adjustments I’ve made since starting my full-time job. When I worked for myself, I woke up at around 8:30 each morning. Now, I’m up at 6:20 and out the door by 7:15!
In order to squeeze in as many precious moments of sleep in as possible, I’ve been trying to find ways to shorten my morning routine. Wearing glasses instead of contacts saves me a tiny bit of time! However, those of you who are interested in finding out more about contact lens, you might be interested in checking somewhere like Optometrist New York City.
As you might remember from my post a couple of months ago, I’m a Clearly Ambassador! Clearly (pun intended), I love wearing glasses! By choosing to wear glasses over contacts, I don’t feel like I’m “compromising” on style.
Lately, my go-to pair of glasses are the Joseph Marc Observation aviator frames. I have a very small head, so I have them in the a size small. I usually gravitate towards oversized plastic frames (as you can see here), but what I love about these is that they’re completely different than anything else I have!
Since I’ve been wearing those frames so often, I’ve received some questions about them via Instagram stories. Quite a few people have asked where I got them. When I say they’re from Clearly, the next question is always – “but how did you know they’d look good on you without trying them on in person”? Trust me, it’s easier than you’d think!
I thought it might be helpful to share some of my tips and tricks for how to buy glasses online. Over the years, I’ve ordered several frames online and I’ve never received a pair that looks bad on me. There’s been a few times that I’ve had to make minor adjustments, but that’s not a deal breaker.
How to Buy Glasses Online – 4 Easy Tips!
- Know your frame size – More than anything, it’s important that you choose frames that will physically fit the size of your face. Clearly offers the MyFit tool to help with this. Once you add your measurements to your account, they automatically filter the styles so you can shop what will fit you. I know it’s a bit weird to think that your face has measurements, but knowing your frame size will help tremendously.
- Pick the right style for your face shape – As you can imagine, your face shape has a big impact on how glasses will look on you. While finding the right size is a lot more crucial to your success in finding a great pair of glasses, face shape is another factor to consider.
- Get a prescription from an Optometrist – There is no point of shopping for a pair of glasses when they’re not going to be the correct prescription for you. It’s recommended that you visit an Optometrist every two years to ensure your prescription is up to date. Even though they sell glasses at the Optometrist, they’re usually very expensive. If you’re on a budget (and don’t like pushy sales people giving you an unwanted opinion), you will have a lot more success ordering online.
- Don’t be afraid to try something new – Just because you’ve never tried a particular style of frames before, doesn’t mean they won’t look great on you! In fashion, your best accessory is confidence. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s true. If you have the confidence to pull off a new-to-you style (like aviators), then go for it, girlfriend!
Clearly was kind enough to offer my readers 20% off a full pair of eyeglasses (frames and lenses, including upgrades) with the code JACKIEG. Happy shopping!
