Over the years, my taste in makeup has come a long way. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become a lot more selective in the type of products that I’ll put on my face. Like any twenty-something, I’ve started to notice fine lines and wrinkles, so skincare has become a priority. I’m also still prone to breakouts, so I try to stick to products that won’t clog my pores. I also need to feel confident that my makeup will still look good after a long day at the office and into the evening.
Let’s face it. I’m a snob, so a lot of the time, I prefer to use mid-to-high-end cosmetics. The good news is, as a blogger, I receive a lot of products to sample and review, so that lessens the impact on my bank account. If I finish a PR sample, I’ll go out any buy the products with my own money, so it’s not always a good thing that I find so many great products! For example, a couple weeks ago, I was sent a few products from SkinCeuticals. The products are fantastic, but they don’t come cheap. To help you (and myself) justify the purchase in the future, I included them in my recent DIY Spa Experience post. (Related: review of the new Benefit Cosmetics Eyebrow collection)
hard candy fierce effects lipstick Review
I recently received a few lipsticks from Hard Candy which is an affordable line of cosmetics, exclusive to Walmart. The lipsticks are a part of the Hard Candy Fierce Effects lipstick collection. These lipsticks are sold for $5.98, so they’re very affordable. It’s because of their incredibly low price tag that I didn’t think I’d like them. I was worried that they’d bring back horrible memories of the metallic Wet N’ Wild lipstick I used to buy for $1.00 in high school. The Wet N’ Wild lipsticks were dry, chalky and difficult to apply. I assumed that the Hard Candy lipstick would be just as bad.
Well, friends. I was wrong! The Hard Candy Fierce Effects lipsticks are highly pigmented and moisturizing. The reason they feel so smooth is because the lipsticks are infused with Argan oil for added moisture and shine. The lipsticks are also long-lasting, so you don’t need to worry about having to reapply after 10 minutes.
Of course, I’m not here to tell you that high-end makeup isn’t worth the money. That’s just crazy talk! What I am saying is that you shouldn’t write off all lower-end products. There’s some incredible gems out there!
