Something About That

garnier clean plus

in Beauty on 03/06/15

Even though I use several different products each morning, my “go to” makeup routine is pretty simple. I typically focus on skincare and creating a dewy glow, rather than a bold eye. Of course, every now and again, I take the time to apply that swipe of eyeliner and add smokey eye shadows. The extra makeup makes me feel more glamorous, even if my outfit is casual.

I don’t like to wear a ton of makeup for work (read – I prefer to use those extra few minutes to sleep), but when I do, it’s removing the makeup that’s the biggest pain.

Makeup remover, isn’t something I ever get overly excited to buy. Not only is there nothing fun or exciting about the removal of makeup, but I also don’t think I’ve ever been “wow’ed” by a product in this category. For the last couple of years, I’ve been using makeup remover wipes, and while they do a decent job taking off my day-to-day face, I find that when I wear eyeliner and that extra coat of mascara, it doesn’t all come off.

Needless to say, when Garnier Canada sent me a new makeup remover to review, I was a little bit skeptical. Garnier Clean Plus is a cream-based makeup remover, and I wasn’t sure it would do what it promised: remove that stubborn eye makeup (and calm sensitive skin). The product is approved by the Canadian Dermatology Association, and doesn’t contain alcohol, dyes, or fragrances, so I figured at worst case, it would leave my skin feeling smooth.

Lo and behold, I’ve been using Garnier Clean Plus for about a week, and it actually gets every last drop of my makeup off! I still find the concept of rubbing cream over my eyes a little bit strange, but it delivers on its promise. As far as I’m concerned, the extra moisturizing this product offers is a bonus.

I think the creamiest one I have tried is the Philosophy cleanser. The only makeup removers that terrify me are the gel ones as I always seem to have stinging with those. I like the idea of lotion being in this one and even better that it is suitable for sensitive skin. Love that cardigan!

Can you believe I’ve never tried ANYTHING from Philosophy? I’ll bet their cleanser is amazing, but for a drug store option, I love this new Garnier one!

This is one of the first years I’ve been a stickler about moisturizing and I’ve noticed a difference. Keep piling on the lotion 🙂

After many years of practice, I have mastered the bold cat eye look in just a few seconds! That usually means I have makeup to remove every night for bed. I find that makeup wipes work the best for me since they are easy and do the job super quickly! Thank you for sharing your review though! 🙂

I’m still working on mastering my cat eye…it still takes me a bit of time to get them to match 😉

There’s always so many different types of options out there, so if you’re happy with what you’re doing, definitely keep it going!

I’m the same way about makeup and makeup remover. Makeup is such a pain to remove (but I can’t go to bed without taking it off!) and it is so hard to find the right one! They never seem to do its job haha. I might try this one and hopefully it is a winner for me too!

After so many months of waiting, we finally said goodbye to our little Toronto rental and moved to our new home in Newmarket!

The next week or so will be a state of chaos, as the house isn’t exaaaaaaactly ready yet, but that’s okay - we’re here! 🥰

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!
