effortless winter uniform

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 01/14/15

Good morning and happy Hump Day!

I hope that all of my friends in the North are staying warm. It’s another cold week in these parts. Life in Canada, right?

To help battle the frigid temperatures, my uniform over the last week or two has consisted of a chunky scarf, a cardigan, and pants similar to these woman uniform pants. It’s been too cold to wear skirts or dresses, which is a bummer. I’ve had fun outfit ideas in mind involving some of my skirts, but they’ll have to wait until we get into a January thaw.

As a company, we have a lot of events planned in the near future, specifically the summer months, and there has been discussion of us wearing a certain type of uniform to help raise the profile of the company and event. I’d heard something about these printed t shirts and how we were going to customize them with all of the relevant information so that people would be able to recognize who was working and who wasn’t. I have to say, I’m quite looking forward to this, as sometimes it can be hard finding the best outfit to wear to work every day. It will be nice to have that break. Although, I am pretty sad that I can’t make the most of the skirts that are sitting in my wardrobe, as it’s just too cold at the minute. I have a bit of a hike into the office and I’d like to feel my legs when I get into work 😉

In the meantime, I’m getting a lot of wear out of my pants, especially my corduroys. They’re the perfect winter staple, and work well for work or weekend wear.

Earlier in the season, I found a great pair of cords from LOFT and have been wearing them far more than I’d like to admit. It was just natural that I had to pick up another pair when I spotted them in my size…and on sale.

Super cute casual attire. This look is cozy and well put together. I love that your cords and scarf compliment eachother but you don’t get the feeling that it’s too matchy matchy. (something I totally hate). Not sure of the temps in Canada but I can only imagine. I just returned from our ski house in Vermont. Temps dipped to 2 degrees. That’s as cold as I can handle.

I know matchy matchy gets a bad rep, but I like pulling these subtle patterns out of accessories.

WOW – Vermont sounds like it’s about as cold as it is here. I can’t really handle it either, believe me.

It is so cold in Canada! But this outfit looks like it can withstand the freezing. Great scarf, and I love the necklace and boots you chose. Really nice!

I LOVE your cardigan. I was not surprised to find that it was Madewell. I’m so addicted to their stuff now. It’s such a pain too because it can be so pricey! This outfit certainly looks warm and quite livable. Some of the other blogger gal’s winter dress codes I’ve seen have not been nearly as practical.

Thank you!! I LOVE Madewell, but what drives me nuts is that I only get to a store about once a year. No Canadian locations, and I’m scared to see what sort of duties/brokerages would come from an online order.
