Easy Oatmeal Cinnamon Apple Scones

Easy recipe for oatmeal cinnamon apple scones

Regardless of your niche, one of the key components to a successful blog is beautiful photography. It isn’t a coincidence that some of the most popular blogs like Gal Meets Glam or Gimme Some Oven include stunning images in every post. I’m always inspired by the “big time” bloggers and at the same time, I strive to create beautiful and engaging content, too. It’s obvious to me that these bloggers don’t use their iPhones to create content for their blogs. They rely on professional photography equipment, as do I.

Of course, I don’t have to tell you that photography equipment is expensive. Cameras, lenses and other gear can set you back hundreds (or thousands) of dollars. As much as I’d love to buy a top-of-the-line camera and all of the fancy lenses, it’s just not feasible. Instead, I’ve invested gradually.

I purchased a Canon Rebel T3i about three years ago. It was my first DSLR camera and at the time, it was a huge investment. It wasn’t until about a year later that I purchased my first lens – the 50mm. This is a lens that a lot of bloggers swear by because it allows you to easily achieve the coveted blurry background in your photos. I’ve been happy with that lens and have it to thank for the beautiful photos you’ll see in posts like this and this. That being said, it’s been a while since I last invested in a lens and I wanted something that would allow me to shoot in a wider angle. Alas, I purchased a 24mm lens and now I’m learning how to use it.

Using Pinterest as inspiration to bake scones

The other day, I was craving scones, so I decided to do some baking. I love experimenting in the kitchen, but it’s been a while since I’ve last shared any recipe posts. A quick search on Pinterest led me to a recipe for oatmeal cinnamon apple scones, which I found on Miss Information. It felt like a perfect excuse to take my new lens for a test drive. I even filmed a little “making of” video, which is live on my YouTube channel.

Oo you have to share (or let me know) what your thoughts on the 24mm. I’m looking to invest to… I was considering the 35mm but when we rented the lenses just to check it out, I wasn’t impressed. Not sure if we got a defect lens? Those scones do look delicious! They would be perfect with coffee!

I’ve never shot with a 35mm, but I’m still learning how to use the 24mm. It’s COMPLETELY different than the 50, so I’m still learning. Feel free to DM me any time if you wanted to chat a bit more. I ultimately went with it because it was much more affordable than a lot of the lenses out there, but still different.

These looks delicious!! Photography is something I really struggle with. I have always been interested in it, but never really pursued it. I would love to learn more, but classes are expensive and the equipment is insane!!

It’s really difficult because of the price. It’s definitely a tough hobby to break into. There’s still so much I wish I could afford to splurge on too!
