Happy Tuesday and happy 4th of July to my American readers! If you’re Canadian, I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and that you had fun celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.
I stayed in town for the long weekend and went with my parents to a cousin’s Canada Day party. Given the occasion, I insisted that we all had to wear red and white to the party. After all, it was a Canada Day party. Well, for some reason, out of the approximately 50 guests at the party, we were the only ones who wore red and white. They didn’t even have any Canadian-themed decorations. It was bizarre!
I wore this outfit last weekend, in an effort to dress down black dress shorts. I’ve had these shorts for a few years now, but have only worn them a handful of times. At this time of year, I typically wear either a summer dress or denim shorts. I was in the mood to switch things up a bit and I’m glad I did. Those shorts are so comfortable!
You may notice that I’m wearing a pair of flip flops with this outfit. Even though I wear flip flops a lot, it’s rare that I wear them in a blog post. In my opinion, flip flops usually feel too sloppy for the blog. The only reason I’m wearing them here is because I had an epic shoe fail that day.
I ordered these Kaanas slides from Shopbop a few weeks ago. I hadn’t worn them yet, but I thought they’d look cute with this outfit. We had plans to walk around the city and I assumed the shoes would be comfortable. After all, I have a pair from last year (seen here) and I love them! I also have these and so far, they’ve been great. Boy, was I ever wrong! No word of a lie, I couldn’t even walk a half a block before they started to hurt my feet. By the end of the first block, the shoes had broken skin.
Needless to say, I was happy that I had a pair of flip flops in the car.

Hope you had an awesome Canada Day! I love that you kept the shirt unbuttoned and made it a more layering piece! It looks so cute!
