How to Dress Up a Pair of Boyfriend Jeans

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 04/11/16

Boyfriend jeans from Banana Republic, hooded cardigan from Aritzia and striped tee

My take on weekend fashion can be often described as “comfortable” and “cozy.” Unless I’m staying home (and in that case, wearing sweats), I tend to live in jeans and cardigans. A lot of the time, I stick to skinny jeans, but as you already know, I also love to wear boyfriend jeans.

When it comes to wearing boyfriend jeans, I know that it can be a little bit tricky to put together a casual outfit that doesn’t look “sloppy.” So, how do I dress up a pair of boyfriend jeans? Any time I feel like my outfit is about to cross into “hot mess” territory, I turn to accessories to help me out. It’s as simple as throwing on a pretty necklace and more importantly, a pair of heels. Yes, it’s really that simple. A pair of shoes can change everything!

I’ll be honest. Even though I’m a petite person, I don’t wear heels all that often. I’ve actually been making more of an effort to wear heels these days, because I love how I feel when I wear them. Pumps = Confidence. End of story! Of course, as a newbie, I’m still learning how to walk in heels. Seriously. I look like a baby giraffe taking its first steps when I have to walk more than a few feet in them…but it’s a work in progress!

Woah! I love boyfriend jeans on you! The clutch and pair of heels makes it so sophisticated. Where is the clutch from? Such a lovely piece! And I agree– pumps can change everything.

Ah, I realize I didn’t mention where the clutch is from! I bought it at Hudson Bay a couple of years ago, and I think it’s a lower end version of Alice + Olivia.

Haha I’m the same way when I wear heels! LOVE them, but I look kind of ridiculous because I’m so wobbly. I need way more practice. Adding these heels to the boyfriend jeans makes a huge difference. The outfit is so much dressier!

Boyfriend jeans + heels= casual chic! You are so funny regarding your comment about resembling a baby giraffe when walking in heels. Keep it up! Practice makes perfect. It’s so true that pumps= confidence. Love this look on you, Jackie!

I’m like you – I used to never wear heels except on the blog! I started wearing them more to work but the minute I get home, I kick them off and lounge around barefooted lol!
Boyfriend jeans are seriously the best when it comes to weekend wear! They’re so effortlessly chic and pairing them with heels really adds an oomph to the entire look! Love it!

Now that you mention you never wear heels I’m totally realizing that I’ve barely seen any blog outfits with them. It’s funny, because I would’ve never noticed if you didn’t say anything haha.

    Keep practicing 🙂

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
