Recently, I had the pleasure of doing another shoot with local photographer, Jon Lee. It had been a few months since our last shoot, so we were due. We arranged to meet at the gorgeous St.James Park in downtown Toronto. The park is small, but it’s a really lush area of green space, right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life. I’ve been wanting a reason to shoot there for a while now, so it was the perfect opportunity. Any time I’ve walked by this area, it just felt like the perfect place for a Toronto fashion blogger to have an impromptu photoshoot.
I ended up getting to the park a little bit early, so I spent a few minutes walking around and did some people watching. Once Jon texted me to let me know that he’d arrived, I started walking across the park to meet him. As I walked, I felt something land on my head. Immediately, I was worried, because it was sunny (so it wasn’t rain)….and there were a lot of pigeons in the area.
That’s right, friends. I was pooped on…moments before our shoot. There was bird poo in my hair, on my scarf and on my collar bone. Yes, it was disgusting, but it was also kind of hilarious. Thankfully, the park is right across the street from a salon, so I was able to take care of the mess. The girls at the salon were so accommodating, even though they also laughed when I explained the situation.
As they say, the show must go on…and I was determined to capture this crop top and floral maxi skirt outfit! Even though I’ve always been a little bit self-conscious about my midsection, I love the combination of a crop top and floral maxi skirt. You’re only showing a little bit of skin, but you’re also directing attention to the floral print on the skirt. It’s similar to this outfit I wore a couple summers ago.
