Treat Yourself: Cocoon Body Scrub at the Miraj Hammam Spa

in Lifestyle on 07/28/16

Miraj Hammam Spa - Review

The last few weeks have been crazy, which is why I recently shared some of my favourite ways to relax. I try to employ these ideas whenever possible…but sometimes, you need take relaxation a step further by taking some time off. Even adding one extra day to your weekend can do wonders for your mental health! Needless to say, when I was given the opportunity to review the Cocoon Body Scrub at the Miraj Hammam Spa at the Shangri-La hotel in downtown Toronto, it was the perfect excuse to take a day off to enjoy myself.

Since I booked my spa treatment on a Monday, I decided treat the day as a mini staycation. I started my day with the cocoon body scrub at the Miraj Hammam Spa, followed by some time in their beautiful lounge. I could have stayed at the spa for the entire day, but I decided to venture out for lunch. I ate lunch at a restaurant that I’d been wanting to try for years (it did not disappoint), and then took in a little bit of boutique window shopping. It was a perfect “me” day!

So, you may be wondering, what’s a cocoon body scrub? Scroll through for the details and my thoughts on the treatment! If you like the sound of it, you may want to ask your local spa if they also offer this treatment. In order to do this, you could search spa weekend Birmingham to find a spa near you.

What is the Cocoon Body Scrub Treatment?

Until taking part in this experience, I’d only ever tried “basic” spa treatments, like back massages and facials. On the other hand, the cocoon body scrub addresses your entire body, from head to toe. It’s a really unique (and wonderful) spa treatment!

The treatment begins with a dry brush exfoliation, across your entire body. Aside from how wonderful it feels, dry brushing removes dead skin cells, improves your skin’s texture and aids in cell renewal. It also helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Next, they massage Caudalie’s Vine Body butter into your skin and then wrap you up, to cocoon the skin with hydration. You’re wrapped with a heated blanket, which helps your skin absorb moisture…and it feels amazing. While your body is in the cocoon, you get to enjoy a head massage. All and all, this deeply nourishing wrap leaves your skin feeling restored and unbelievably smooth.

So…here’s the part that I didn’t realize going into it: the treatment is done in the nude. If you’re not comfortable with that idea, it’s not the treatment for you…but those kind of things don’t bother me much. The room was quite dark, but more importantly, everyone who works there is a professional. They’ve seen it all and frankly, they aren’t there to judge!

What is the Miraj Hammam Spa like?

When you’re done your treatment(s) at the Miraj Hammam spa, you get to relax in their beautiful, middle eastern-inspired lounge area. It’s a beautiful space, where you enjoy high-quality tea, chilled grapes and the Middle Eastern dessert, baklava. It was actually some of the best baklava I’ve ever tasted. Had I been given the option, I would have bought a box to bring home with me.

The Verdict?

I think it’s pretty obvious that I loved my spa day! If you’re in Toronto and looking for a unique and relaxing way to enjoy a “me day”, girl’s weekend or a little getaway with your significant other, I highly recommend you visit the spa. The cocoon body scrub at the Miraj Hammam spa was incredible and my only regret was not booking a second treatment that day.

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
