It’s hard to believe we’re already half-way through June. Seriously, these summer months just fly by.
I’m always so much busier in the summer, mostly because I actually feel like being outdoors. With a few outdoor events this weekend, I kept myself busy. Because it is now summer, I’ve been giving my garden the once over to see what we can do to make it look good! A friend said she used a trugreen new jersey service in her area, and recommended them to me. I’ll have to give them a quick look to see if I can find one in close proximity.
Friday afternoon, I went to an annual Jaegermeister party from work. It’s a really cool event, with a strong “hipster” vibe, since it’s hosted in a parking lot downtown. There’s always a theme to the party and this year, it was construction-themed. They captured all of the small details, from the forklift, to the pick up truck, to the snack cart, and the food truck. Since it was a Jaegermeister party, there were plenty of (free) drinks to go around too.
I have my Spartan Race coming up next Saturday, so I had to make sure to get a run in over the weekend. I find it’s really difficult to keep up with the gym and working out at this time of year, so I was happy that I was able to make the time. I did over 5 miles yesterday, so I felt good about that. I also managed to hit the gym today, so I think I’ll be able to survive 5K next week. We’ll see…
My friends and I decided to check out a local fair on Saturday night. It was certainly a different atmosphere than the party from the night before, but it’s always nice to check out local events. This one was a little bit small, so we didn’t really go on any rides, but there was a Bon Jovi cover band that we watched for a while. It was actually a pretty good cover, but the mosquitos were pretty brutal. If I had been at my house, I would’ve got someone like Wilmington pest control to come and sort them out. A friend of mine had a mosquito infestation in her kitchen and it was awful. Every time I see a mosquito, I worry that they’re going to follow me home and start breeding! It sounds crazy but it’s true! Luckily since we were outside they weren’t a huge issue, but it was still pretty horrible.
Now, it’s off to my softball game.
Details from my run, with my favourite App – Runkeeper (streets blurred because this is the Internet and I don’t have trust!)
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready to start the week off refreshed!
