The Button Front Skirt

in Fashion, Outfit Post on 05/23/16

Banana Republic Button-Front Denim Skirt

Ahhh, long weekends. Is there anything better?

As much as I wish I had made exciting plans to head up north to a cottage, or take a road trip to a nearby city, a relaxing weekend at home was just what I needed to recharge. I not only found time to relax and soak up some sun, but I managed to catch up with a couple of friends and get a whole bunch of work done. I took advantage of the weather and shot a few new looks for the blog, photographed a fun recipe post (coming soon!), and cleaned up some neglected spaces, like my makeup drawer and shelves.

One of the looks that I shot this weekend included one of my new favourite pieces: the button front skirt. Similar to off the shoulder tops and dresses, button front skirts seem to be everywhere this season! I already own a light wash denim skirt, so I’d been hunting for something in a darker wash. Do you want to know one of the other reasons I was sold on this button front skirt? Those oversized pockets. I can’t resist a couple of oversized pockets. Can you?

Such a chic look! Loving the play with different lengths. That cardigan elongates you so nicely!

Looking super chic, girl! I love those types of skirts, but I’m afraid one of the buttons is going to pop when I sit even though that is very unlikely happen! I have weird fears I guess haha! And adore those shoes!

The buttons stay in place, but the issue I find (and I have this with all skirts) is that when I sit, it sort of…moves up, if that makes sense? Still, I love it and just deal because I always have that problem.

That’s one of the items that I’m missing from my closet! Loving how you styled it with that long cardigan.

Seriously gorgeous Chanel bag and I love how you paired it with such a classic outfit.

Haha, I was just reading your blog when I saw you comment on mine 😉 Loving the skirt with the duster cardigan, has that modern retro look if that makes sense.

Glad you got some time to relax. I love this skirt! I have one but it is a little too short for my comfort. This is a great length.

Love this outfit – the skirt is so cute but the longline cardigan is a great pairing! I like the juxtaposition of the different hemlines here!

2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all r 2020 has without a doubt been a year we will all remember. It’s been a big rollercoaster, but there’s no one else I’d rather ride it with than @woodley.matt 🥰

We’ve endured so.many.challenges this year...but we’ve also had some of the best and most exciting moments of our lives this year.

I still can’t believe we bought a house, got engaged AND got a puppy this year (all within a month)! 🤯

Nobody knows what 2021 will bring, but what we do know is, it will start the same way 2020 ended: at home.

I also know we will finally be finishing and moving into our new home in early 2021, and I CANNOT WAIT!! As for wedding plans...ehh, it’s a little tricky to plan these days, so we’ll cross that bridge a little later 😜

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year at home! 🥳 (which I’m totally okay with - I’m a 👵🏻 anyways)

I picked up knitting needles for the first time in 10+ years (maybe more?!) at the start of the pandemic. I bought a DIY unicorn kit and it took me months before I got around to finishing it. Still, I enjoyed it.

So, this year, I thought it would be fun to knit up a few gifts for Christmas presents.

My next project? I’m going to attempt to knit myself a cardigan. 🤭😲🤗

Christmas 2020 - like many things this year, not “normal,” but we made plenty of memories.

We had a low-key Christmas morning, filled with Bailey’s coffee, Miller snuggles (and weird facial expressions) and cinnamon buns. We finished off the day with a Jewish Christmas dinner: Chinese take out!

I’m finishing up the last of the gifting projects and then it’s onto baking cookies! 💁🏼‍♀️

I *think* I know what I’ll be baking...but I’m having a tough time committing 🤪

Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁 Even though it hasn Happy thanksgiving!! 🍂🍁

Even though it hasn’t been a “normal” Thanksgiving weekend, there is so much to be thankful for.

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening. I used the pumpkin pie recipe from @sallysbakeblog - including the mix of shortening and butter in the crust. I think it was my best pumpkin pie yet!
(The Turkey was fantastic too of course 😏)
