boyfriend jeans and florals

Toronto fashion blogger shares a casual summer outfit idea: Floral Vest from Zara, Rag & Bone Boyfriend Jeans

Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend and a lovely Mother’s Day.

This past weekend was jam packed for me, between spending time outdoors, attending a concert, and running the Sporting Life 10k.

I ran the race last year, but I was actually more nervous for this year’s run because I hadn’t trained nearly as much as planned. I spent most of April with an annoying cold and cough, so I wasn’t able to go for any runs during that time. Luckily, I was able to get a couple of runs in over the past week, but that’s not nearly enough preparation! Nonetheless, I was prepared to power through the race as best I could. While I had to take a few walking breaks, I managed to complete the full 10k and got that huge adrenaline rush that makes it 100% worth the pain. My time was a little bit slower than it was last year, but at least it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

While I was proud of my final time, it’s a bit frustrating once you start hearing how much quicker other people completed the race. My first reaction is to feel badly about my time in relation to other people’s, but it’s important to remember,”comparison is the thief of joy.”

I need to forget about all of the other people and focus on how proud I am that I completed a 10k race. That’s kind of a big deal! I still can’t believe that I’m able to do that, because I used to hate running. One of the things I’ve grown to love about the sport is that it’s a personal challenge and you can always do better.

Anyhow, onto the outfit I’m wearing here. Today, it’s all about boyfriend jeans and florals. In my opinion, when you pair these together, you’re guaranteed to look cute, stylish and ready to take on the day!

I wouldn’t typically buy jeans online for that same reason. They’re so specific to each person, that it’s hard to know what size to buy, let alone if they will look good.

I used to fret about my time with the other runners but I’ve recently learned to just be happy for other people if they had better times than me. We can always improve later but I’d want people to be happy for me if I made good time so I just let them have it. That way we’re all happy! :]

One (very) small thing I’m thankful for is that I took Matt’s advice on forgoing my usual butter-only pie crust recipe for one that includes shortening.
