I don’t think I’ll ever really accept the winter and all the comes with it, but at least I’ve stopped living in denial.
There is just so much to think about during the colder seasons, especially where looking after your home is concerned!
We get a lot of snow and winds here in winter so you have to make sure that your property is ready to brace the chill. We should get a maintenance check done by professionals from Mr Roof or similar companies every time before winter begins to see if there is any leak or repair.
A big part of this for me involves taking out a home insurance policy that protects my house from weather damage.
Hail, snow, rain, and strong winds, can all wreak havoc on your property and lead to potentially expensive damages.
Consequently, I always make sure that my home insurance includes coverage for any damages caused by inclement weather.
To make sure that I always get the coverage I need at the best possible price I like to compare different policies and insurers online by reading reviews such as this hippo insurance review from simply insurance.
No one should have to compromise where their home is concerned after all!
Home insurance to one side, what are your thoughts about winter fashion?
Somehow, I’ve gone almost my entire adult life so far without owning a proper pair of winter boots. These were my boot of choice on very snowy days, but I really only wore them a few times in a year.
The only way it would seem even remotely acceptable to go without snow boots in Toronto, Canada is if you drive to work and park underground. I, on the other hand, have a much more complicated commute, which includes a 10 minute outdoor walk to and from the subway.
Now, we can all sit here and wonder how I made it all of these years without wrecking my shoes in the winter (seriously, anyone that knows me knows that I am insane when it comes to keeping my boots clean), or we can check out today’s outfit. You’ll notice that I’m finally wearing snow boots!
These boots were definitely one of the best investments I’ve made this season. I’ve worn them every day since I bought them. Seriously. At least I’ve managed to go ahead and find warm boots in winter season now, haha!
Something else I need my boots for is when I walk my adorable dog! If you’re not familiar, I’ve got plenty of him on my Insta!
Obviously, I have to take him out for a walk every day and I don’t want to do that in my usual trainers otherwise my feet would probably freeze off!
I bought a new coat for Miller this season because it gets so cold and snowy here. Remember that they might be furry but they still need a coat to keep warm!
As the winter gets colder, our walks tend to get shorter to keep us out the cold but I still put my boots to good use!
Anyway, I usually bring another pair of shoes or boots and change when I get to work, but I figured they looked good with this outfit.
I bought this plaid top when I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago. I was on the hunt for a red flannel button down for a while, and didn’t find anything that I was in love with. I ended up finding this one in the men’s section of the J Crew factory store. It was an XS and the only one left, so it was basically just waiting for me to come into the store and give it a home!

How do you keep “practical” shoes stylish?
