Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends! Our Thanksgiving was over a month ago, so I’m 100% jealous of your feast today. Seriously. Anyone want to invite me over?
This year, I was invited to Upper Canada Mall’s Holiday 2015 Kick-Off event, and was thoroughly impressed by the thought behind their genius campaign. The goal with their #IAmMrsClaus campaign is to highlight the role of the modern day Mrs. Claus. The modern Mrs. Claus is your stylish, busy woman…you know, the real driving force behind the perfect holiday season! Of course, this modern woman doesn’t necessarily only shop for Christmas, but for any holiday that she happens to celebrate.
It’s no secret that Christmas can be an expensive time of the year. With all the gifts to buy and parties to attend, if you haven’t budgeted appropriately you can quickly find yourself in money troubles… A lot of people try to stay clear of expensive payday loans, but for some, a loan is the only way to cover the costs of a family Christmas. At Christmas – and always – do try your best not to take out any loans you cannot afford to pay back and always do your research first where money matters are concerned! I digress…
In so many families, it’s “Mrs. Claus” who does most of the shopping, wrapping, holiday planning, and cooking…and she needs to keep herself happy and stylish while doing it all, right?
Mrs. Claus was nice enough to share a few tips that any modern woman should consider at this time of year, so I wanted to share them with you!
5 tips to get holiday-ready:
1. PINTEREST IS YOUR FRIEND
Duh, we are all obsessed with Pinterest, but have you ever thought to use it to plan your holiday shopping? Create a secret board, and start pinning some gift ideas. If you’re still looking for ideas, check out Upper Canada Mall’s Gift Guide.
2. PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING
We may not all be the best gift-wrappers…so why not get some help? If you’re local, be sure to visit Upper Canada’s annual fundraiser gift-wrap booth. If you’re not local, you may want to see if your mall offers a similar service. (I suck at wrapping presents, so I was excited to learn about this one).
3. PAMPER YOURSELF
With all of the hard work you do to prepare for the holidays, don’t forget to treat yourself with some fun snacks (hello, macarons!) or even a quick post-shopping manicure.
4. AVOID THE CROWDS
Personally, I can’t stand when the malls are busy. It gives me too much anxiety to shop when stores are crowded! Be sure to take advantage of extended holiday hours at your local mall…but my ultimate trick? Take a holiday day and hit up the mall on a weekday morning, right when they open. That’s when I do my best shopping!
5. WHEN IN DOUBT, GIVE A GIFT CARD
I know a lot of us don’t “love” giving people gift cards, since it seems a little bit impersonal. Why not add a fun DIY project to go alongside the gift-card, or even a few little goodies to go with it, just so the recipient has something small to open?
